From 2013 to 2016 Edward has been responsible for leading the UK’s engagement in the EU-US trade and investment negotiation (TTIP) as well as BIS interests in the National Security Council. This followed over five years leading for the UK on trade policy (including trade negotiations) and wider international economic issues in the EU, WTO, OECD and G8, from both BIS and the FCO (where he also led work to make FCO more responsive to business).
Edward has lived and worked in the US (advising a power company on its growth strategy) and in South Africa (for Deloitte Consulting). Edward’s previous roles in DTI included electricity market reform, workplace skills and regional development. He has been private secretary to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.
