Matthew Harries is Research and Campaigns Director for the Labour Movement for Europe. He was previously Director of Proliferation and Nuclear Policy at the defence think tank RUSI. Prior to that, Matthew was a Specialist for the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee, where he managed the Committee’s 2018-19 inquiry on China’s global role. Before working in Parliament Matthew was a Senior Fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and Managing Editor of ‘Survival’, the IISS journal. He has also taught as an Adjunct Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna, and was a postdoctoral Research Associate at the Centre for Science and Security Studies in the Department of War Studies at King’s College London, having received his PhD from the department in 2014.
