Hira is working to solve the space debris problem. He founded Lumi Space to conduct satellite laser ranging: the most precise method of locating satellites and space debris for improved space surveillance and tracking. Hira has a background in space situational awareness, including a PhD sponsored by USAF/AFRL modeling the natural forces and torques on debris in orbit. He is also currently a Visiting Fellow at Oxford University looking at the commercialisation of engineering and physics research for space, and an advisor to Spaced Ventures – crowdfunding the next phase of human space activity.
