Chris Evans MP was born and raised in the South Wales valleys and represents the community of Islwyn in Parliament.
Chris graduated from Trinity College, Carmarthen, with a history degree; a subject he is still very much interested in. After university, he worked in betting shops, banking and for the Union of Finance Staff. Following this, Chris worked for Don Touhig, his predecessor as MP for Islwyn, as a parliamentary researcher.
Mr Evans was elected as the Labour and Co-operative Member of Parliament for Islwyn on May 6th 2010 with a majority of 12,215 and was re-elected in 2015, 2017 and 2019. During his time in Parliament, he has served on a number of Select Committees including the Justice Committee, Environmental Audit Committee, Public Accounts Committee and the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee.
In his spare time, Chris enjoys running and boxing. He is also a published author. In September 2017 he wrote and published a book ‘Fearless Freddie: The Life and Times of Freddie Mills’, and in October 2021 his book, ‘Don Revie: The Definitive Biography’ was published.
